Fashionable Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland heels by Nicholas KirkwoodI don't know about you, but I can't wait till Alice in Wonderland comes out. The previews have me believing that Tim Burton's next movie to hit the theaters is going to be a one-of-a-kind and a must see. With actors like Johnny Depp and Anne Hathaway staring in it, its sure to be a hit. I saw on style.com that the French store Printemps is going to have their windows Alice inspired in March. The windows were done by Nicholas Kirkwood, Maison Martin Margiela, Charles anastase, Chloe, Manish Aror, Christopher Kane, Alexander McQueen, Haider Ackermann, Bernhard Willhelm, and Ann Demeulemeester. Below are the Alice inspired designs. From left to right: (first row) Nicholas Kirkwood's sketch, Maison martin Margiela, Haider Ackermann, (second row) Charles Anastase, Ann Demeulemeester, and the Chloe design team.

Project Runway Recap Episode 3

My Favorite: Maya's design
Amy's design
Winning Design: Mila's design
On this weeks episode of project runway, the designers were put into pairs. They got to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and be inspired by the famous and truly artistic fashion designs there. Some excelled and their creativity and talent showed while others missed the mark. In the end Mila's design (and her teammate) won and Ping went home, though her teammate stayed. Ping was the leader of her team and so she held the most responsibility. Mila's design was definitely interesting and eye catching but I didn't like it that much. The designs I really liked were Maya and Amy's designs. They were artistic, chic, stylish, and truly looked like something you'd see on style.com on the runway. I'm hoping next week they'll be even more beautiful designs.

Blast From the Past

Givenchy Spring 2010 CoutureAudrey Hepburn in Givenchy (Funny Face)
pictures from style.com and http://cinegeek.com/?p=561
When I saw the Givenchy Spring 2010 Couture collection, my mind went directly to the movie Funny Face. Some of the pieces in Givenchy's new line remind me so much of the dress that Givenchy designed for Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face. Givenchy and Audrey Hepburn were great friends, and Audrey always had Givenchy design her clothes for the movies she was acting in whenever it was possible. I love Audrey Hepburn's style and I'm also in love with Givenchy's designs. From the original designer to now, Givenchy is breathtaking.

Flower Power

Erdem Spring 2010 RTW
My favorite from the collection:
My inspiration:
pictures from style.com
My interpretation:
I'm in love with the Erdem Spring 2010 RTW collection. The floral prints, bright colors, and bold lace are amazing. Erdem Moralioglu did a great job on this collection. Above, I'm wearing an Xhilaration dress from Target, t-strap heels with frills going down the front, and a black bow headband. I love the bright floral print and the fifties flavor to the outfit. The Erdem Spring 2010 RTW collection is so fresh and reminds me of spring and flower gardens, but other pieces in the collection are more romantic with lace. I'm in love with floral prints and the dresses in this line are so stunning.

Christian Dior Goes Equestrienne

Christian Dior Spring 2010 Couture

pictures from style.com
I'm absolutely in love with the Christian Dior Spring 2010 Couture collection. I was looking on style.com like I often do, and saw the slide show of all the looks, and was in awe. The colors, structure, design, poses, and backdrop were all so amazing. This equestrienne inspired collection is so fresh, fierce, and very fashion forward. Obviously its couture, and not something I would were on any average day, but if I had the chance I would love to play dress up with this collection. The last picture is of John Galliano, the designer, and I absolutely love this picture. All of the shots were amazing with the flowers, pink, and violet colors. I especially loved the floor length dresses of tons of duchesses satin, absolutely stunning.

Valentino Inspiration

Valentino Spring 2010 RTW model: Hanne Gaby OdieleMy outfit/interpretation
Marc by Marc Jacobs Mirror Heart Evening Bag in gold
This is the outfit that I wore today. The dress is xhilaration from Target, the shoes are black t-strap sandals, the earings are from Maurices, a black lace over cream headband, and the handbag is a Marc by Marc Jacobs Mirror Heart Evening Bag in gold. It reminds me a lot of the Valentino design above. I love the lace and oversize bow. I'm very into lace right now and looking sophisticated but also fun and elegant.

Project Runway Episode 2: The Fashion Farm

My Favorites from Episode 2:
Anthony's design
Mila's design
Winner: Jay Nicolas's design
Well, as you all know I love Project Runway, and Thursday's episode was no exception. The task was so genius and interesting. Each of the designers had to make a party look using a burlap potato sack!!! Burlap is obviously not something they would choose or are used to using, and so it took a lot of creativity. Some did wonderful (my favorites are above), and some had some trouble (construction and the over all look). Pamela especially had trouble with the task and ended up going home. Her dress did not flatter the model at all and I didn't like the color. The way she dyed the burlap made it look like jean which just made it look even more cheap and inexpensive (don't get me wrong I love jeans but not a potato sack that looks like jean material!!!). I loved the winning design which was done by Jay Nicolas. The bottom part of the dress reminded me of feathers and was so cute and fun. I also adored Anthony's classic and elegant red dress (I would so wear this) and Mila's edgy design. All in all it was a very interesting task for the designers and I loved watching!!!

Masquerade on the Runway

Jean Paul Gaultier fall 2009 RTWPicture from style.com
So last night I went to see the Phantom of the Opera Broadway show!!! Its my absolute favorite musical ever. I've read the book like 3 times, seen the movie, and listened to the soundtrack like a million times. I've even learned a couple of the songs on the piano. I was so exited when I finally got to see it live, and it was absolutely amazing. The music, the actors, the set, and of course the fashion, were all exquisite. The costumes were so interesting. Lots of sparkle and huge dresses with lots of ruffles. Also, you can't forget the famous Phantom of the Opera himself with his mask. I've been inspired, and I found this picture from one of Jean Paul Gaultier's collections. His fall 2009 RTW collection used a lot of masks. It reminded me of the play because of the darkness to the clothes, the use of lots of black, and the occasional model holding a rose. I loved it!!!

Agyness Deyn's New Hair

Ok, so I know this is old news but I just have to post something about it. I remember a little while back I was looking at magazines and saw a picture of Agyness Deyn with Black hair and I was like NOOOO!!! She still looks absolutely stunning but I loved the platinum look much better, but thats just my opinion. She's always so stylish and has such an interesting face. She's definitely one of my favorite models.

Vogue February

Vogue February Issue Covers
America Vogue: Jessica Biel
Paris Vogue: Kate Moss
British Vogue: Natalia Vodianova
Australia Vogue: Nicole Trunfio
Pictures from: http://fashion.vogue.com.au/media/magazines/0/35-4_nr.gif , http://www.flickr.com/photos/29731355@N00/4285186542/ , http://models.com/work/british-vogue-british-vogue-february-2010-cover , http://www.fitsugar.com/7048994

These are some of Vogue's beautiful February issue covers. My absolute favorite is Vogue Paris's cover. Kate Moss looks so beautiful. She's covered with jewels, and the setting is just gorgeous! I also love how put together the American Vogue cover looks. The outfit Jessica Biel is wearing is so chic but also professional. The jean material makes the "suit" look more casual. Natalia Vodianova looks so pretty on the British Vogue cover. The purple, pink, and sheer lacy dress is all so feminine and definitely reminds me of February (you know with Valentines Day and all). Australia Vogue's cover is also quite splendid. The bubble dress with the brown belt is very romantic looking.

The Votes Are In!!!

The Vote are in and its a tie!!! Your top favorite designer is Marc Jacobs and Chanel!!!

Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2010 Ready-To-Wear
Chanel Spring 2010 Ready-To-Wear

Pictures from style.com
Thanks everyone who voted for their favorite designer. It was a tie between Marc Jacobs and Chanel which I'm glad because they are two of my favorites. I love Marc Jacobs crazy designs. His bold prints and mix of prints is so interesting and I absolutely love it. I got two Marc Jacobs clutches and a tote bag for Christmas and I just adore them. They were some of the Marc Jacobs special items so they were all under $40 (amazing I know)!!! I also love Chanel's use of sophistication and elegance with youthfulness and a touch of masculinity. Chanel's twist on men's clothes to make it appealing to women is so chic. If you want to watch the runway shows click on these links: Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2010 Ready-To-Wear and Chanel Spring 2010 Ready-To-Wear You should definitely watch the Chanel video. The set for the runway show is amazing. The link is above. Below is an interview with Karl Lagerfield (the current Chanel designer). But be sure to click on the link for the actual Chanel runway show above, because it is so pretty and the set up is spectacular!!! Once again thanks for voting!!!

Stella McCartney

My Favorites From the Stella McCartney Spring 2010 Ready-To-Wear:
I love the print and the frills under the top. The one shoulder top is so fun with all the frills. It ads some spice to the feminine skirt.
This outfit is so fun and hot!!! I love the bright blue against the copper brown shorts.
Could it be any prettier?!?!?!
All pictures from style.com
I'm officially in love with Stella McCartney's Spring 2010 Ready-To-Wear. The colors, prints, and frills are so cute!!! The collection is very springy, fun, and fresh. Its starting to get warmer out again down here in Florida (I know what your think, its always warm in Florida, but it hasn't been lately) and this collection has definitely gotten me excited about getting to wear shorts and dresses again. I love the flowing skirts and dresses, so chic!!! Watch this video (its a Style Videos Podcast) about and of the Stella McCartney Spring 2010 Ready-To-Wear. I love the backdrop of the runway show. Its so fun and inspiring!!!

No Fear, Go Sheer

Christian Dior
Christian Dior
Dolce & Gabbana
Vogue January
Pictures from style.com and vogue.com
So Vogue February should be out now, or at least soon, so I thought I'd do a recap on the January issue. I'm a magazine junkie, and subscribe to TeenVogue, Marie Claire, Allure, and Harpers Bazar. Hopefully soon I'll be subscribing to Vogue, since its so much cheaper to subscribe. I'm in love with the sheer trend going on right now, and at the moment am obsessed with cherry red!!! I love black, white, and red together. I think its chic, mature, romantic, and feminine. So I was so inspired by the cover story on Rachel McAdams. The clothes she wore in the shoot were beautiful. One of the trends I'm seeing alot on the runway right now is the use of sheer fabrics and lingerie. The use of lingerie in outfits has become ever more popular and I think its very pretty and feminine when used right. I love the Dior belted organza-and-satin dress with built-in bra. The organza-and-satin gives such a feminine and girly effect. Its truly a piece of art. I loved the photo of Rachel McAdams wearing it with red lip stick and Cartier white gold-and-diamond earring. Truly stunning. Also, the Dolce & Gabbana floral silk-and-nylon bodysuit and pencil skirt she wore are to die for. The outfit looks darling with the De Beers diamond earrings and Christian Louboutin heels. This is definitely a dress I would wear. I wish I could afford it!!!

The Best of the Best

Winner: EmilioJonathan's design
Janeane Marie's design
So the first episode of Project Runway has officially aired!!! Above are my favorite of the designs that strutted down the runway on last night's episode. My favorite design actually won!!! The first picture is the winning design, and I think it is just lovely. If you want to see the rest of the designs, then go to the Project Runway website. I love the pattern on the dress that Emilio made, and the colors go together beautifully!!! The structure of the dress is also gorgeous. Jonathan's dress is something I would wear. I love the belt and the pattern at the top. The contrast of the black and the cream is just stunning. Janeane Marie's design looks like something you would see come down the runway for sure. The sheer fabric gives it a pretty and feminine look that I love. Christiane went home, and I was certainly glad she did. I think creativity, talent, and ability were laking for her. She's not a horrible designer, but she just didn't ad up to the rest. This season promises great style, I can't wait to see what comes next!!! Since I love Project Runway so much, I'm going to be doing an article on each episode after it airs. If you watch the show, then post about your favorite designers and who you think did the best!!!

Vogue Paris

I absolutely love the Christian Dior Couture Paris Couture Haute Couture A/H 09-10!!!! I was on Vogue France's website and fell in love with this collection. These are some of my favorite pieces from it. I'm feeling really inspired by the 1920's and Paris lately...probably because I just did a project on it and I'm reading a biography on Coco Chanel. To me, this collection feels very 1920's inspired and I also love the sheerness and the guarders... if thats how you spell it...lol....its very chic and feminine. Some of the pieces in his collection look almost unfinished...like they did sew it all the way or left something open...its very interesting and I'm really inspired by it right now. There's been a lot of use of sheer fabrics on the runway lately and I'm totally excited about this trend!!! All these pictures are from the Vogue Paris website....check it out and see what you think!

Louis Vuitton in Paris

My family is thinking about going to vacation in Europe this summer, and we'll probably go to Paris. I'm soooo excited, and I hope we go because it will be amazing. I found this picture of the Louis Vuitton store on Avenue Champs d'Elysees in Paris and I thought it was so cute. The store is covered with two huge Louis Vuitton handbags!!!! Can it be any more fashionable. I wonder if its real leather???? That'd be amazing! Do any of you know?

1920's Chic

So today I was working on my project for my A.P. Language class. I had to make a scrap book page on 1920's fads. I'm also currently reading a biography on Coco Chanel, so I'm completely in love with 1920's fashion right now. I love Coco Chanel's designs. She made "men" pieces feminine. I'm also a big fan of black and white. Its elegant, simple, and chic. Forever 21 has a lot of accessories that fit the 1920's theme. They have pearl necklaces and cloche hats. I really just want to put on a little black dress, a ton of pears, and a cute hat right now. I love Drew Barrymore's 1920's inspired look at the Grey Gardens Premiere. She's wearing an Alberta Ferretti dress with Fred Leighton jewels. The light colored veil is so feminine and girly, but its also mature and elegant. I think flappers, pearls, and all things 1920's need to come back again....you with me!?!?

So here are some of my favorite Coco Chanel quotes: (http://thinkexist.com/quotes/coco_chanel/)
"In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different."
"A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous."
"Fashion fades, only style remains the same."
